Legal Secretary and Receptionist

CLOSING DATE: Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. POSITION AVAILABLE: Lincoln County has a job opening for a Legal Secretary and Receptionist with the Lincoln County Attorney’s office. POSITION DESCRIPTION This is an entry level legal support staff position responsible for providing administrative and legal support in the County Attorney’s Office. Preference may be given to applicant willing to learn and transition to full-time legal assistant. RESPONSIBILITIES meeting and greeting walk-in traffic answering the telephone accurately taking messages initial screening and processing of new cases legal support for misdemeanor case files making photocopies processing the mail making deliveries calling witnesses preparing documents using word processing software filing documenting that tasks have been accomplished other related office duties JOB INFORMATION The responsibilities include greeting and assisting the public in person or on the telephone, initial screening and processing of new cases, data entry, file management, document preparation and legal and administrative support for a variety of activities in the department. The position reports to the County Attorney and Deputy County Attorneys and does not directly supervise other county personnel. The position requires the ability to learn the proper use of legal terminology and procedures and adequate typing skills to perform routine clerical duties. A keyboarding test may be required. The position requires exercising courtesy and tact in communicating with the public and in giving and obtaining information and understanding and maintaining safeguards for sensitive and confidential information. Applicant will be required to sign a form authorizing review of a criminal history report in conjunction with the application.
