Early-stage, nonprofit-obsessed, boutique consulting firm seeks an experienced, mission-driven accounting professional to join our growing team.

This Senior Accountant position offers the right candidate a chance to build meaningful connections while deepening their financial expertise in the nonprofit sector. Ideal for an accountant ready to level up from transactional work into client advising, complex reconciliations, and multi-entity reporting — without the bummer of a traditional corporate environment.

Salary range $65k - $80k annually. Remote first, 35 hour work week, unlimited vacation, flexible scheduling, pro work / life balance, health benefits and 401k.

We specialize in all the boring things ( finance, accounting, HR, operations ) that make magic and mission possible. We are in the weeds, in the board rooms, at the fundraising lunches and at the strategic planning retreats. Founded in 2019, we currently have forty five ongoing nonprofit clients, have provided excellent service to close to one hundred organizations since inception, and continue to grow.

About The Position

As Senior Accountant, you'll provide advanced accounting support for multiple accounts. You will handle complex accounting processes, lead month-end close, support financial reporting and analysis, and serve as a resource to both clients and internal staff.

This position bridges the gap between Accountant and Controller, providing advanced accounting oversight without the broader advisory and forecasting duties of the Controller role.

Responsibilities

General Accounting

You will keep a clean general ledger for our clients, with timely and accurate journal entries, AP, AR, bank and credit card transactions

Monthly Close

You will ensure that books are accurate, complete, and reconciled each month

Excel Wrangling

Occasionally you'll help make heads or tails of a big giant complicated excel workbook and support the data entry needed for it all to make sense

Support for Accountant Team

You will be a resource for junior accounting members of our team and on-site client accountants where your guidance will reinforce technical best-practices and company policies

Mission Minded

With an understanding of what really matters to our clients, you will make decisions that prioritize mission returns and programmatic impact

Customer Service

You will become a trusted, valued, and liked member of client management teams

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.
• QuickBooks familiar.
• Excel fluent (vlookups, sumifs, pivot tables) required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• Customer service focused with great communication, both internally and with our clients
• Ability to simultaneously self-manage multiple priorities and overlapping deadlines
• Ability to take initiative and solve problems independently
• Personal drive to make a meaningful difference in your community
