Advanced Telemetry RN | Clinical Nurse IIThis role is essential for delivering expert, patient-focused care within a telemetry unit in a regional healthcare setting in the Pacific Northwest. The Advanced Telemetry RN at the Clinical Nurse II level is responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and managing complex patient needs with autonomy and collaboration across interdisciplinary teams to ensure safety and optimal outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care: Monitor patients requiring continuous cardiac observation, perform detailed assessments, respond to acute cardiac and neurological changes, administer medications including non-titratable drips, and develop individualized care plans. Act as a compassionate patient advocate and provide education to patients and families on medical conditions and lifestyle adjustments.Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean environment adhering to infection control and regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission and OSHA. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and report safety hazards promptly.Documentation: Accurately document all patient care activities and responses in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) following established standards.Professional Development and Leadership: Mentor new graduate nurses, new hires, and students. Engage in continuing education and serve as a resource for best telemetry practices. Provide relief charge nurse coverage as needed.Emergency Preparedness: Respond swiftly and effectively to cardiac emergencies, including arrhythmias and chest pain, utilizing advanced clinical skills.QualificationsExperience: Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in telemetry or equivalent intermediate care settings. Transitional RN candidates must have two years in acute care or similar environments.Proficient in post-procedure care such as post-cardiac catheterization, pacemaker insertion, and post-CABG monitoring.Strong skills in ECG/EKG interpretation and arrhythmia management.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring quick decision-making and teamwork.CompetenciesTechnical proficiency with centralized cardiac monitoring systems.Excellent clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.Effective communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare teams.EducationBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years telemetry nursing experience may be considered.Licenses and CertificationsCurrent Registered Nurse license valid in the region.Current BLS and ACLS certifications from recognized providers.NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required for progressive care units; transitional RNs must obtain within six months.Preferred: Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) or Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN Adult) or equivalent.All candidates must successfully complete physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
