Responsibilities Physician Assistant (PA) The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is currently hiring a physician assistant to join our team of dedicated professionals. Specializing in psychiatric programs and substance abuse treatments such as detox and rehab, The Carolina Center serves Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and areas throughout South Carolina and western North Carolina. Summary of Job Duties Serves as an advanced practice healthcare provider in the area of psychiatric mental health working in both direct and indirect patient care activities. Direct care functions include providing physical and psychiatric assessments, therapeutic interventions, and case management services. Indirect care functions include assuming role as a consultant and educator. Assures provision of medical care in accordance with the South Carolina Mental Health Code, accreditation standards, licensing rules and regulations, legal aspects, hospital policies/procedures, standards of care and practice. Documents all clinical activities according to policy. Essential Job Functions Competent in assessing, planning, and delivering care for patients with co-occurring disorders. Serves as a consultant to the staff, providing education about psychiatric medication, psychiatric conditions and caregiver interventions. Orders appropriate medicines, labs, tests, imaging and other ancillary services as needed. Maintains and reviews patient medical services documents and records as necessary. Prescribing pharmacologic agents and compliance with antibiotic stewardship program. Participates in treatment planning, implementation and monitoring. Complies with Medical Staff Bylaws and all hospital policies. Current Physician Assistant license to practice in the state. Maintains national certification. Experience: Zero- one (0-1) year of experience required. Two (2) years of related experience preferred. Experience with psychiatric patient care techniques, preferred. Additional Requirements Successful completion Management Aggressive Behavior Training (HWC) before on the unit orientation and prior to assisting with restraining procedures. Successful certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association for CPR prior to taking an independent patient assignment.
