Position Senior Analyst - Meter & Services Location: East Hartford, CT (Office work model) Salary range: $96,400 to $120,500 (dependent on experience). Benefits Competitive benefits and growth opportunities Generous performance‑based bonuses 12% 401(k) match Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance Tuition reimbursement Professional development and clear career‑advancement pathways Job Summary The Supervisor – Gas Technical Operations is responsible for supervising the daily activities of union personnel in critical operations such as leak surveys, damage prevention, cathodic protection, pressure regulation, odorization, and measurement throughout Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG) Greenwich territory. Key responsibilities include integrated planning and scheduling, execution of fieldwork activities, performance measurement, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations to maintain safety and reliability. Additional duties involve proactive and reactive inspections, troubleshooting, and directing daily activities of company and contract personnel as needed. Key Responsibilities Supervise, coach, and mentor union personnel in pressure regulation, cathodic protection, SCADA, and odorization activities. Lead damage prevention union personnel in “Call Before You Dig” (CBYD) ticket responses and natural gas facility mark‑outs. Supervise compliance survey union personnel conducting annual walk‑ins and other surveys. Perform on‑call duties to respond to gas emergencies or customer issues. Conduct annual employee reviews, approve timesheets, facilitate Operating Qualifications (OQs) trainings, and ensure all staff complete required safety trainings. Support budget reporting, efficiency initiatives, staffing concerns, and collective bargaining negotiations. Assist in developing and managing capital and O&M expense budgets. Evaluate and integrate new technologies into work processes, collaborate with Operations and Engineering. Communicate with community officials, State of Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), and local government agencies when required. Coordinate safety training, documentation, inspections, and investigations; lead weekly safety meetings. Serve as on‑scene supervisor for outages and reported gas leaks, championing Avangrid’s safety culture. Administer leak reports, time sheets, store orders, work order balancing, material review, and compliance with safety rules. Manage labor relations contract administration and communications; conduct employee evaluations and participate in hiring panels. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of four years of relevant experience. Associate degree with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience. High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of ten years as a gas fitter or other relevant experience and completion of the gas fitter progression program. Knowledge: Natural gas systems and construction. Gas theory, gate station and regulator station operations and maintenance, labor agreements, safety manual, leak detection methods, procedures, and instrumentation. Industry codes including PHMSA DOT 191 & 192, Hazmat, OSHA, and operator qualification concepts (OQ). Must be able to travel out of service territory when required. Obtain and maintain required valid Operator Qualifications (OQs). Work on a bi‑weekly on‑call schedule; available after hours for storms, emergencies, and critical assignments. Certifications: Valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Four or more years of experience in Natural Gas Pressure Regulation, Field Service design, installation, or utility operations. Supervisory experience. Knowledge of natural gas distribution system design, operations, maintenance, and construction principles. Intimate operations and maintenance knowledge of pressure regulation, Gate Stations, Regulator Stations, Cathodic Protection systems, SCADA. Project and schedule management skills, including computerized work and materials management tools. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with conflict resolution abilities. Attention to detail and teamwork orientation. Result and customer oriented. Ability to multitask and efficiently manage numerous projects and field crews. Proficiency in PC desktop applications (MS Suite, Salesforce Applications (Fieldforce), SAP, FWM, Document Viewer, and others), smart phones and tablets.
