Production Supervisor I

DESCRIPTION

Summary:

The Production Supervisor I is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure the efficient production of Universal's machine products. This role drives team performance, supports employee development, and leads initiatives to improve product quality, reduce costs, and optimize cycle times. The supervisor plays a key role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence.

Production & Operations Management:

• Review and analyze production orders to determine product specifications, quantities, and delivery requirements, and develop effective production schedules.
• Coordinate and provide leadership to team members engaged in the assembly of Universal's products.
• Monitor production performance and ensure schedule adherence, quality standards, and efficiency targets.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, equipment performance, cost reduction, and product quality.

Leadership & Team Development:

• Lead, coach, and develop team members to achieve high performance and engagement.
• Identify training needs and implement cross-training programs to build a flexible and multi-skilled workforce.
• Establish performance expectations and track progress through traceable goals and critical success factors.
• Provide ongoing feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and support career development.
• Execute supervision in compliance with company policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and workforce planning activities.
• Assign and direct work, ensuring optimal utilization of personnel and resources.
• Address employee relations matters and resolve work-related issues effectively.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Operational Excellence & Compliance:

• Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
• Promote efficient and cost-effective use of materials, including waste reduction and process improvements.
• Support budget development and maintain cost control within the department.
• Plan workforce requirements, including overtime and use of temporary staffing as needed.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:

• Analyze production challenges and implement effective solutions.
• Utilize standard problem-solving tools and Total Cycle Time principles to improve processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational improvements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate's in Business, Manufacturing, or a technical field with 1-3 years of manufacturing experience.
• High School Diploma / GED with commensurate experience will be considered.
• Relevant team lead experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical documents, specifications, and drawings.

Quality Responsibility:

• Adhere to Universal's Quality Management System policies and procedures. Promote and apply continuous improvement methodologies to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Frequent use of a computer and standard office/manufacturing systems.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Occasional travel to customer sites or industry conferences may be required. (<10%)

Target Annual Base Pay: $62,400 - $65,000 + Robust Benefits
