Research Associate

Research Associate Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, Texas A&M University – Kingsville, Texas (Remote in Leakey, TX) Position Overview Performs independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science and outreach. Requires consistent use of discretion and judgment, ability to work independently and within a team. Responsibilities include preparing proposals, operating research equipment, assisting graduate students, working with landowners to maximize research partnerships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design, plan, conduct, and coordinate fieldwork to support research projects. Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques for routine research activities. Maintain detailed and accurate records of research data and field operations. Utilize computers, laboratory and technical equipment for data management and analysis. Conduct statistical analyses and technical evaluations of research experiments and results. Interpret findings to ensure data integrity and accuracy. Summarize research results for scientific publications and client‑oriented outreach. Prepare written materials for scientific audiences and outreach. Write proposals for funding agencies and monitor financial accounts associated with research projects. Develop outreach materials and coordinate outreach events; network with local landowners to support research projects. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: Two years of related experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Familiarity with field and technical equipment, especially camera traps; effective use of computer and software for databases, statistical analyses, data presentation; multitasking and cooperative teamwork. Physical Requirements Ability to perform strenuous field work, particularly in high heat. Other Requirements and Factors May require work beyond normal office hours and/or weekends.
