Mechanical Assembler

Position Summary The Mechanical Assembler requires a wide range of skills to prepare bulk container handling equipment both mechanically and simple electrical assemblies. Major Responsibilities Use Busse machine drawings, machine assembly drawings, controls schematics and relevant bills of materials to build according to drawings and problem‑solve where needed. Engage in the reduction and/or elimination of non‑value‑added work throughout the organization. Utilize hand tools proficiently in performing structural, mechanical drive, fluid control, guard and cover, mechanical, and simple electrical assemblies; work must represent quality workmanship, neatness, and acceptable efficiencies. Complete quality assurance checks for the Busse Blue Books. Provide accurate documentation skills that include labor reporting, material issue/returns, material moves, and material scrap reports. Execute Busse inventory re‑ordering policies that include Kanban. Prepare equipment for shipment, including but not limited to machine teardown. Required Education / Experience / Skills General supervision: routine duties performed with minimal supervision; standard practices allow independent work with occasional check of ongoing work. High school diploma or GED, or one to three months related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and simple calculations of figures and amounts. Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; manage problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
