Overview Position Title: Sr. Windows Server / VMware Administrator Location: Suffolk, VA Clearance Requirements: Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance Position Status: Contract-to-Hire (C2H) Pay Rate: Competitive; commensurate with experience Position Description We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Windows Server / VMware Administrator to support, secure, and optimize enterprise server infrastructure in a DoD-regulated environment . This role is ideal for a hands-on infrastructure professional who thrives in mission-critical environments and brings deep experience with Windows Server, VMware virtualization, and DoD security compliance. The selected candidate will play a key role in ensuring system availability, performance, and cybersecurity compliance while collaborating closely with cybersecurity and network teams. Responsibilities Administer and maintain Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 environments Manage Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO), DNS , and core Windows services Support VMware vSphere infrastructure , including vCenter Server and ESXi hosts Oversee virtual machine lifecycle management, performance tuning, and availability Apply and maintain DoD STIGs for Windows and VMware systems Perform vulnerability scanning and remediation using ACAS / Nessus Manage server patching and updates using WSUS or enterprise patching tools Develop and maintain PowerShell automation for administrative and security tasks Monitor system performance and troubleshoot infrastructure issues Collaborate with cybersecurity and network teams to ensure secure, compliant operations Required Skills / Education Bachelor’s degree in a technical field OR 5+ years of equivalent professional experience Proven experience administering Windows Server environments Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere / vCenter Experience supporting systems in DoD or classified environments Active Secret or Top Secret clearance IAT Level II certification , one of the following: Security+ CySA+ CCNA Security GSEC
