Respiratory Therapist - Critical Care

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift: 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00)

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist will provide critical care respiratory therapy in various settings, including the ICU, Emergency Department, and pediatrics. The therapist will be responsible for delivering care with proficiency and compassion, supporting both adult and pediatric populations, including newborn stabilization prior to transport.

Responsibilities

• Administer aerosol therapy and manage respiratory equipment.
• Conduct extubation and airway management.
• Perform tracheostomy care, suctioning, and pulmonary hygiene.
• Monitor patients and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs).
• Manage ventilator settings and wean patients from mechanical ventilation.
• Provide support in emergency situations, including potential care for COVID-19 populations.
• Occasionally perform EKGs in support of the Cardiology Department after hours.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Valid New York State license (must be in hand prior to submission).
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CRT, NRP.
• Experience with EPIC charting system is required.
