Armstrong Facility Operations

Job Summary

Lead, motivate, monitor, and oversee team of electricians and electrical foremen to ensure quality work across the University campus. Coordinate day-to-day operations of a group of employees. Assign, monitor and review progress and accuracy of work, directing efforts and providing technical guidance on more complex issues.Use engineering knowledge and methods to support electrical engineering processes and procedures. Supervise electricians to maintain safe and current electrical work to maintain the physical plant of the University. Assign workload to achieve maximum efficiency in department.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance regarding the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems
• Supervise installation and maintenance of electrical systems for campus buildings, equipment, electrical fixtures and lighting
• Perform on the job inspections to ensure work meets compliance standards
• Maintain inventory to eliminate down time in production
• Work with campus engineers to ensure electrical blueprints are circuited correctly and power is available at each location
• Oversee time spent on each job and materials used
• Participate in hiring, orientation, training, and performance evaluation of Department team members
• Verify payroll data and keep track of team members' vacation/annual leave
• Provide guidance regarding the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems
• Plan and schedule electrical projects

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent post-secondary education/formal technical training

Required Experience

• Five (5) or more years of related work experience
• Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience

• Experience in higher education facilities

Proposed Salary

$31.25 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

ABILITIES

• Consistently exhibit engaging customer service
• Ability to support various constituencies served by the University
• Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
• Ability to plan, prioritize, assign, train and review the work activities of electrical team members
• Ability to work with power and hand tools
• Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches and building plans

KNOWLEDGE

• Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
• Knowledgeable about electrical systems, power distribution, control circuits, transformers, scale calibrations, programmable logic controllers, codes, safety procedures, hazardous classifications, and computer software programs (i.e. CAD)
• Knowledge of logistical planning

SKILLS

• Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
• Effective problem-solving, prioritization, managerial/leadership, detail orientation, and mathematical skills
