Job Title

Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU

Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts | Every other weekend required | Rotating holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Neuro ICU at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage complex neurological patients including strokes with and without tPA, ventriculostomy patients, and post-craniectomy cases
• Titrate physician-ordered drips and manage arterial lines and central lines
• Operate and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices
• Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips using Philips monitoring systems
• Float to lower acuity units (intermediate or general floor) as staffing requires; travelers float first

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification required
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Hands-on experience with ventriculostomy management
• Experience with tPA administration and acute stroke management
• Prior ICU experience managing ventilators, arterial lines, and central lines
• Familiarity with post-craniectomy patient care
