Passionate about supporting students with hearing differences? Consider a rewarding contract opportunity in the Chattanooga area as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. In this impactful role, you'll work closely with students, teachers, and families to ensure learners who are deaf or hard of hearing receive tailored instruction and advocacy during the academic year.
This full-time position starts in early August 2026 and runs through May 2027, with a steady schedule of 35 hours per week. You'll have the chance to make a difference across multiple school sites, with specific assignments and caseload details to be confirmed as the district finalizes numbers. Your expertise will help shape inclusive classrooms and nurture student achievement at various age levels.
Desired qualifications and requirements:
- Current and active DOE certification
- Experience or training as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Completion of fingerprinting and time-sensitive credentialing requirements prior to start
- Flexibility to adapt to varying school assignments as needs evolve
- Genuine passion for working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
Core responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction for students with hearing differences
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Assess students’ needs, monitor progress, and document outcomes
- Advocate for accommodations and accessible learning environments
- Provide consultation and support for staff on deaf/hard of hearing strategies
- Contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) planning and review
