Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will provide accounting and financial reporting support across a private nonprofit foundation, a portfolio of businesses and investments, and other designated entities. This role will maintain accurate financial records, track revenue and expenses, support financial reporting, and assist with the financial management of multiple entities. This position requires strong attention to detail, discretion, organization, and the ability to work independently across multiple entities and financial activities. Key Responsibilities Accounting and Financial Management Maintain accurate accounting records for the nonprofit foundation, portfolio businesses, and other designated entities. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger transactions. Assist with monthly and annual closing processes. Prepare financial schedules, reports, and supporting documentation. Monitor cash activity and assist with financial reporting and forecasting. Nonprofit Foundation Accounting Maintain accounting records for the private nonprofit foundation. Track charitable contributions, program expenses, and other foundation activity. Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for foundation leadership. Assist with tax filings, audits, and other compliance requirements. Portfolio Revenue and Business Holdings Track and reconcile revenue, distributions, and other financial activity from the Business Owner's portfolio of businesses and investments. Monitor amounts due and received from portfolio companies and investigate discrepancies. Maintain accurate records of revenue, expenses, owner contributions, and distributions by entity. Reconcile portfolio related accounts and bank activity. Prepare periodic revenue and financial reports by business or investment. Coordinate with external accountants, CPAs, tax advisors, and portfolio company representatives as needed. Tax, Audit and Compliance Provide financial information and supporting documentation to external CPAs and tax advisors. Assist with tax filings, audits, reviews, and other financial examinations. Maintain organized records to support tax and regulatory requirements. Maintain strict confidentiality of financial, business, investment, and nonprofit information. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience. Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Experience with multiple entities, portfolio companies, investments, or nonprofit accounting preferred. Strong Excel and accounting software skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion. Preferred Experience Family office, private investment, nonprofit foundation, or multi entity accounting experience. Experience working directly with business owners or senior executives. Experience coordinating with external CPA firms and tax advisors.
