Senior Scientist - Therapeutic Modality Assessment for Surface Targets

Amgen seeks a Senior Scientist to characterize cell-surface therapeutic targets and evaluate therapeutic modalities using quantitative experimental approaches. This early-stage validation role integrates proteomics and transcriptomics data to guide target prioritization and therapeutic strategy across disease areas.
Responsibilities
- Propose and experimentally evaluate therapeutic modalities for surface targets based on target properties
- Develop scalable, high-throughput quantitative workflows assessing protein degradation, internalization, trafficking, and cellular function
- Integrate experimental findings into Go/No-Go decision packages guiding therapeutic modality selection
- Collaborate across early validation team and functions to document workflows and present validated data
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Biomedical Science, Immunology, Oncology, Pharmacology, or related field; or Master's plus 2 years relevant experience; or Bachelor's plus 4 years relevant experience
- 2+ years biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry research experience
- Demonstrated contributions to discovery programs across multiple therapeutic modalities
- Experience with early target validation, antibody/binder, or small-molecule characterization
- Hands-on proficiency with flow cytometry or quantitative imaging for surface target measurement
- Experience developing and executing high-throughput cell-based screening assays
- Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and scientific communication skills
