Registered Nurse (RN)

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive care in a Telemetry unit, handling patients with various cardiac and medical conditions. This role requires critical thinking, efficient communication, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: 6-9 weekends in a 6-week schedule
• First to float, with potential floating within Zone 3 based on unit needs

Essential Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure.
• Monitor and respond to patient needs, including the titration of cardiac drips and management of vital medications.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create effective care plans.
• Participate in patient education and provide support to patients and their families.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
• Required Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA).
• Experience with cardiac drips and post-cath lab care is essential.
• Ability to read telemetry strips; tele techs monitor 24/7 with RN co-signing of strips.

Work Environment

• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4 during day shifts and 1:5 during night shifts.
• Support staff available: Approximately 10-12 nurse aides on the unit.
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling options available.

Dress Code

Professional attire consisting of navy blue scrubs with an option for Caribbean blue scrubs for registered nurses.

Orientation

All new clinicians must attend a designated week of orientation, with specific dates and locations provided at that time.
