Junior Telecommunications Technician - Secret Clearance Required

Job Title

This position requires a candidate with expertise in low voltage electrical, security systems, systems documentation, system testing, and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will possess a BICSI Technician (TECH) certification and have at least five years of related experience. US citizenship is required for this role.

Job Description

Responsibilities include conducting evaluations and testing for new security systems, developing and maintaining system documentation, providing technical support to diplomatic security field activities, collaborating with manufacturers on new products and system improvements, and maintaining testing labs and equipment.

General expectations of the role involve utilizing technical skills and initiative to further the work of the Technology Development Branch engineering teams, being dependable and taking initiative, lifting 50 lbs., reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, using a digital voltage meter for testing, developing and supporting systems throughout the lifecycle, and terminating and testing cabling.

Preferred areas of expertise include automated key control systems, access denial systems, vehicle barrier controllers, walkthrough metal detectors, x-ray systems, alarm systems, emergency notification systems, power systems, and infrastructure.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related technical security experience, user-level proficiency of Microsoft Office products, a minimum Secret level clearance, and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Preferred certifications include DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification and ISC2 SSCP.

Travel may be required, including international travel, up to 25% of the time.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $34.85 and $47.15, though this is not a guarantee of compensation. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.

Scheduled weekly hours are 40, and the work location is USA VA Alexandria with additional work locations as needed.
