HVAC Maintenance Technician

Location: Melville, NY 11747

Temp-to-Hire

Shift: 1st Shift | Mon – Fri 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Pay Rate: $35.00 – $42.00/hour

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Maintenance Technician to perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on HVAC and mechanical systems in an industrial, commercial, logistics, and cleanroom environment. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, experience with HVAC/R systems, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on HVAC and mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including:
• Air Handling Units (AHUs)
• Rooftop Units (RTUs)
• Split Systems
• Chillers
• Pumps
• Fans
• Compressors
• Refrigeration equipment
• Ventilation systems
• Monitor and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• Recharge refrigerant, inspect for leaks, and ensure proper refrigerant cycle operation.
• Perform routine inspections to ensure optimal performance of HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Complete preventive maintenance work orders using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Identify potential equipment failures through inspections and troubleshooting.
• Operate diagnostic, testing, and measuring instruments.
• Perform general maintenance duties as required.
• Respond promptly to customer work orders and communicate repair status.
• Follow all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and PPE requirements.
• Comply with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) where applicable.
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and records.
• Work effectively in a team environment while providing excellent customer service.
• Prioritize multiple assignments and adapt to changing work demands.
• Utilize Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of HVAC/R maintenance experience in industrial and/or commercial environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Experience working with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and CMMS software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to read technical documents and computer-based work instructions.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one, if required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility security credentials.
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.
• No visa sponsorship available.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Ability to complete a respirator medical evaluation and fit test.

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts up to 30 feet or higher.
• Frequently bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
• Walk extensively throughout the facility during the work shift.
• Work safely during emergency situations.
• Ability to distinguish wire colors for electrical troubleshooting.
