Description:
Registered Nurse needed for a postpartum unit.
The unit has 28 beds dedicated to postpartum care.
It experiences approximately 3,300 births per year.
The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1 to 4 for couplet care.
Common diagnoses include high-risk patients such as those with elevated blood pressure, multiples, diabetes, and substance abuse issues.
No gynecological surgeries are performed in this setting.
Nurses will be expected to float to the NICU to care for feeders and growers, as well as to the pediatrics area.
The pediatrics unit consists of 12 low-acuity beds, typically treating conditions like RSV and pneumonia.
Emergency services are available 24/7, with an obstetric attending present around the clock.
Pharmacy services are also available 24/7.
Nurses may take on a patient assignment if needed in charge nurse roles.
Nurse aides or OB technicians are usually present depending on patient census.
Weekend work is required every other week.
One major holiday and one minor holiday off is granted.
Scrub color is navy.
Charting is conducted using an electronic medical record system.
Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience in postpartum nursing, with travel experience preferred.
Candidates must keep an open mind regarding unit operations and staff dynamics.
The facility may cancel a limited number of shifts during the assignment period.
No call is required.
