Payroll Specialist

On-Site - (This role is NOT available for a full-remote roll) This position is available for Full-Time (40 hours/week | Monday-Friday) or Part-Time (15–20 hours/week | Monday–Wednesday) Location: Kirsch CPA Group Pay Range: $24–$30/hour, based on payroll and compliance experience Join an Employee-Owned CPA Firm Kirsch CPA Group is an employee-owned CPA firm seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support small and mid-sized business clients with payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, multi-state payroll, agency notices, and year-end reporting. What You’ll Do Process payroll for multiple small and mid-sized business clients Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and municipal payroll regulations Support multi-state payroll and remote employee payroll compliance Prepare and support payroll tax filings Register clients with applicable payroll tax agencies Handle payroll tax notices, agency correspondence, and resolution support Prepare W-2, W-3, 1099, and year-end payroll forms Review benefit and fringe benefit taxability Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation Answer client payroll questions clearly and professionally Collaborate with CPAs, accountants, and advisors on payroll-related issues Support payroll-related general ledger entries and reconciliations as needed Qualifications Required 2+ years of payroll processing, payroll tax, or payroll compliance experience Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations Experience with payroll tax filings, payroll notices, and agency communication Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple client payrolls and deadlines Professional, service-oriented communication style Preferred Experience with remote employee payroll compliance CPA firm, payroll bureau, PEO, or outsourced payroll experience Experience with W-2, W-3, 1099, and year-end payroll reporting Bookkeeping or payroll accounting experience Why This Payroll Role Is Different This is not a high-volume payroll processing job.
