Home Infusion Registered Nurse (Part-Time)

Job Overview Home Infusion Registered Nurse (Part‑Time) – Indianapolis, IN (Northern Indianapolis area). 24 hours per week. This position is available for licensed Registered Nurses (RN). Under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse Supervisor (CNS), the role involves a variety of technical, clerical, clinical, and general infusion nurse tasks related to home infusion services, including patient home care, assessment, IV and port access, medication administration, education, pharmacy operations support, record maintenance, inventory management, and medication order preparation. Compensation: $45–$50 per hour (DOE) plus $0.48 per mile. Travel up to 2 hours from Northern Indianapolis is required and compensated within work hours. Responsibilities General Responsibilities Provide in‑home infusion therapy with regular travel required to and from patient residences. Clinical Responsibilities Administer prescribed specialty medications via intravenous, subcutaneous, or other appropriate routes per provider orders and established protocols. Monitor patients closely throughout the infusion to identify and respond promptly to adverse reactions or complications. Conduct comprehensive pre‑treatment assessments, including review of medical history, allergies, and current medications. Evaluate and monitor vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate) before, during, and after treatments. Identify, document, and communicate potential risks, adverse reactions, or complications per clinical protocols. Educate patients and caregivers on medications, purpose, side‑effects, and what to expect during treatment. Provide clear post‑infusion guidance for managing side‑effects and handling emergencies. Maintain continuous monitoring during and after infusions to promptly address any immediate reactions. Coordinate follow‑up communications (calls or visits) to assess progress and monitor for delayed side‑effects. Provide clinical feedback and collaborate on care‑plan adjustments based on patient response and reported concerns. Documentation & Compliance Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of the infusion process, including patient responses, adverse events, and medication details. Record patient education and follow‑up instructions in compliance with healthcare regulations, clinical standards, and pharmacy policies. Collaboration & Communication Collaborate closely with nursing, pharmacy, and pharmacy staff to ensure coordinated, high‑quality patient care. Communicate promptly with the Clinical Nurse Supervisor regarding treatment effectiveness, patient responses, or adverse reactions. Medication & Safety Management Ensure proper preparation and handling of medications per safety protocols and regulatory standards. Verify medication accuracy and correct dosage for each patient. Maintain strict adherence to sterile techniques and safety protocols throughout the infusion process. Follow infection control guidelines to prevent contamination during preparation and administration. Inventory & Insurance Support Monitor inventory levels of specialty medications and supplies to prevent shortages. Collaborate with the pharmacy team to manage inventory effectively and ensure timely replenishment. Assist with insurance verification and prior authorization processes for specialty medications. Additional Responsibilities for IgCN‑Certified Nurses Participate in CSI’s Immunoglobulin Mentorship Program as required by operational needs. Serve as mentor to new or transferring nurses, providing guidance, coaching, and professional support. Assist with training activities, review educational materials, infusion protocols, and patient care standards. Support skill development through direct observation, coaching, and feedback related to immunoglobulin administration. Act as a clinical resource to the assigned mentee during orientation or transition periods. Conduct document reviews, competency checklists, and required training record assessments. Perform direct observation of clinical practice and assess competency levels during orientation. Document mentorship activities, observations, and competency assessments per CSI policies and accreditation requirements. Qualifications Ability to multi‑task and frequently change direction. Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance coverage, and reliable vehicle access. College degree or certification required (equivalent experience accepted). RN license with 2 years of experience (required). Experience in ER/ICU/Infusion (1 year preferred) and critical thinking skills. Experience accessing PIV lines, ports, and maintaining PICC lines (1 year required). Infusion experience in a hospital or Home Health setting (1 year preferred).
