Job Details Job Title: Climate Action Technician Location: Nespelem, Washington 99155 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 2‑Year Degree Salary: $23.08–$26.76 per hour Shift: Day Reports To: Climate Action Coordinator Closing Date: July 17th, 2026 Basic Functions Non‑Exempt position supporting the Environmental Trust Department’s Climate Action Technician role by providing climate change adaptation communication, guidance, and support to CTCR government operations. The technician will assist the Climate Action Coordinator in leading the CTCR Climate Change Steering Committee (CCSC) and its tasks. Benefits Full Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance 401(k) with employer contributions Short‑ and Long‑Term Disability for Full‑Time employees Generous leave package including paid holidays, sick leave, and annual leave for Full‑Time and Part‑Time employees Qualifications Education and Training Associate’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Science or Policy, Public Health Science or Policy, or a closely related discipline (e.g., cultural/natural resource management or policy) Preferably 24 months of experience in climate or environmental regulatory work, public health, ecology, anthropology, emergency management, or cultural/natural resources management within a complex, multidisciplinary environment College‑level training in climate change is highly desirable Valid BIA and Washington State driver’s license; eligibility for CCT vehicle insurance Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of Tribal sovereignty, climate change risks, facilitation and consensus building, project planning, management, and program development Understanding of Tribal cultural values related to reservation communities and Tribal issues Technical knowledge of climate adaptation, mitigation, justice, and climate impacts on human health and welfare Skills in assessing and analyzing environmental data, technical and business writing, contract administration, project management, and capacity building Experience in grant writing and management Working knowledge of Native American culture, organizations, and activities Appreciation for climate and environmental justice impacts unique to Tribal people Familiarity with best available climate science data sets, including TEK, Western, and Indigenous science Effective relationship management with a wide variety of stakeholders (public, Tribal and non‑Tribal governments, NGOs, scientific and academic communities) Proficiency in virtual teleconferencing platforms and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) suite and Paycom software Strong communication and collaboration skills, including note‑taking, technical summaries, and professional presentations Ability to plan, organize, facilitate meetings, and implement, evaluate, and manage interdisciplinary programs and projects Ability to work independently, take initiative, adapt to rapidly changing environments, and demonstrate empathy and equity while empowering others Analytical skills for policy and legal issues related to climate change, ability to communicate risks and vulnerabilities to diverse audiences, and ability to write, obtain, and manage grants Attention to detail, prioritization, multitasking, and ability to manage an evolving workload Continuous learning and mastery of new concepts and techniques Additional Requirements Pre‑employment drug testing for safety‑sensitive positions; reasonable suspicion and post‑accident drug testing may apply. Positions may be subject to background clearances that must be maintained throughout employment. Tribal Member and Indian Preference will apply; preference will also be given to honorably discharged veterans who are minimally qualified.
