Assistant Coach

Assistant Coach, Rowing Department: Intercollegiate Athletics Position Open To: All Applicants Scheduled Hours: 40 hours per week FLSA Status: Exempt from FLSA Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS Start Date: July 24, 2026 Duration: Expected to Continue Purpose Assist the Head Coach in the leadership and management of the Rowing program to recruit elite student‑athletes, provide training and coaching, and achieve success at NCAA and conference championships. Responsibilities Assist in recruiting and evaluating prospective student‑athletes, providing recommendations to the Head Coach on recruitment and roster decisions. Help coordinate practice planning, team play, and coaching tactics and strategies, and train rowers to develop elite skill levels. Promote academic, personal, and social development of student‑athletes and assist in designing a competitive schedule that maximizes performance. Administer program logistics, including team travel, support staff, business functions, camp administration, and budgeting. Liaise with athletics, camp partners, and stakeholders to provide a holistic, well‑supported student‑athlete experience. Represent Texas Rowing, Texas Athletics, and the University in community engagement, recruiting outreach, public appearances, fundraising, alumni events, and interactions with coaches, media, and constituents. Drive a UT or rental vehicle on and off campus. Consistently exemplify core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics and comply with all applicable laws, policies, and regulations. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. Successful experience as an assistant or head coach at an elite level, including coaching NCAA championship‑caliber student‑athletes. Ability to collaborate with staff, demonstrate critical thinking, and maintain a professional demeanor. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated success recruiting elite student‑athletes for the sport of Rowing. Experience as a collegiate athlete. Driving Requirement Class C driver’s license with a current three‑year driving record. Must obtain a Texas driver’s license within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident if not already a resident. CDL holders are subject to drug and alcohol testing.
