Sourcing Specialist

The Strategic Supply Chain Manager is responsible for developing and executing supplier strategies that support demand for products and services. This role serves as a key liaison between engineering, operations, procurement, quality, and suppliers to ensure sufficient supplier capacity, performance, and long-term supply chain stability. The position requires strong leadership, project management, supplier development, and relationship-building skills while driving initiatives to identify, qualify, onboard, and manage high-performing suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute supply chain strategies to support current and future business demand.
- Monitor supplier capacity and performance to ensure alignment with production and customer requirements.
- Identify supply chain gaps and proactively develop solutions to mitigate risk and improve supplier capabilities.
Research and identify new suppliers through industry networking, conferences, benchmarking, and market analysis.
- Lead supplier sourcing, evaluation, qualification, and onboarding activities.
- Partner with Procurement to obtain quotations, execute NDAs, and negotiate commercial agreements.
Collaborate with Supplier Technical Engineering (STE) and Quality teams to support PPAP, qualification, certification, and supplier development activities.
- Work closely with Supply Chain Coordinators and operational teams to monitor supplier performance, address challenges, and resolve escalated issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business partners, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Product teams.
- Analyze supply chain data to identify opportunities for cost reduction, inventory optimization, supplier consolidation, and process improvement.
- Establish effective partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive operational excellence.
- Lead cross-functional projects focused on supply chain performance, supplier readiness, and risk mitigation.
- Present supply chain risks, opportunities, and escalation items to senior leadership as needed.
- Track project milestones and supplier readiness against business demand and critical need dates.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.
- 8 -10 years of professional experience in supply chain, supplier development, manufacturing, foundry operations, metallurgy, or a related industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of ferrous metallurgy and foundry OR sand casting processes.
- Experience evaluating and working with suppliers in a manufacturing environment, including assessing technical capabilities, capacity, and quality requirements.
- Working knowledge of traditional machining processes and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods.
- Familiarity with industry standards and specifications including ASTM, ASME, NACE, and API.
- Experience building relationships and collaborating with suppliers, engineering teams, procurement, quality, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical and business requirements to suppliers and internal customers.
- Proven ability to lead projects and influence stakeholders without direct people-management responsibility.


Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Prior experience supporting compressors, turbines, energy, oil & gas, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
- Experience with supplier onboarding, qualification, PPAP, and supplier development initiatives.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Theory of Constraints principles.
- Experience with supplier capacity planning and risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience negotiating commercial agreements, contracts, or supplier terms.
