Embark on a rewarding career as an Ed Tech I supporting students with diverse learning needs in a dynamic educational environment near Portland, ME. This contract opportunity runs through June 11, 2027, offering a consistent schedule from 7:20 AM to 2:10 PM, with an early release at 1:10 PM on Wednesdays and approximately 30 hours per week. You'll play a vital role in fostering student growth and independence within life skills or self-contained classrooms.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Ed Tech I certification or willingness to apply prior to onboarding
- Background or strong interest in supporting students in self-contained or life skills settings
- Experience as a paraprofessional in a school environment is highly valued
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and a positive approach to student engagement
Primary Responsibilities:
- Offer instructional and behavioral support to students within classroom and small group settings
- Assist with daily living skills and individualized educational plans
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning atmosphere
- Work collaboratively with teachers and related service providers to deliver targeted support
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations to the educational team
- Support students during transitions, therapy sessions, and community-based instruction as needed
