Make a meaningful difference supporting students in an educational setting near South Portland, ME as a dedicated paraprofessional. Qualifications & Preferred Background:
- Prior experience as a Paraprofessional, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
- Ability to build rapport with children and support their individual learning and behavioral needs
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Patience, adaptability, and a caring approach to supporting students of varying abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent (completion of relevant certifications preferred)
- Capable of assisting with mobility, personal care, or behavioral management based on assignment
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside teachers to assist with classroom management and instructional activities
- Provide personalized or small-group support to students, reinforcing lesson material and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Support students with special needs, including those requiring behavioral interventions or personal care
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating classroom atmosphere
- Assist with documentation and progress tracking as needed
- Collaborate closely with educators, support staff, and families to ensure integrated student support
