POSITION SUMMARY

The Registered Dental Hygienist provides preventive and periodontal care, educates patients on oral health, and works closely with the doctors and team to deliver an excellent patient experience from start to finish.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, periodontal maintenance, and debridement.
• Complete periodontal charting, oral cancer screenings, and thorough patient assessments.
• Expose and evaluate radiographs (BWX, FMX, pano) per practice protocol.
• Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide–oxygen analgesia as appropriate.
• Apply fluoride, sealants, and desensitizing agents; perform laser therapy if certified.
• Educate patients on home care, periodontal health, and recommended treatment.
• Document care accurately and completely in the patient record.
• Follow all infection control, OSHA, and California Dental Board standards.
• Help keep the schedule on time and support teammates when the day gets busy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Current California RDH license — active and in good standing with the Dental Hygiene Board of California.
• Radiography (X-ray) certification to expose dental radiographs.
• Local anesthesia (injections) certification.
• Nitrous oxide–oxygen administration certification.
• Current CPR/BLS certification and California Dental Practice Act / Infection Control coursework.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Dental laser certification (e.g., soft tissue / diode laser) is a plus, but not required.
• AIRFLOW / Guided Biofilm Therapy training — preferred but not required; we’re happy to train the right candidate.
• Dentrix experience.
• Prior experience in a family or general dental practice.
