Job Title

Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU / IMC / Stepdown)

Greenville, NC

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights (7:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | 3 x 12-hour shifts per week | 36 hours per week | 13-week assignment

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intermediate-level nursing care in a pod-format unit with a 1:4 RN-to-patient ratio, managing patients of varying acuity comparable to ICU-level care at smaller facilities
• Care for patients with acute neurological and neurosurgical conditions including stroke (ischemic, hemorrhagic, SAH), post-craniotomy, ventriculostomy, complex neuro-spine, seizure disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, and Guillain-Barré syndrome
• Perform and interpret cardiac monitoring strips and utilize NIHSS assessments
• Assist with lumbar punctures, manage lumbar drains, arterial lines, central lines, and tracheotomy patients
• Administer and monitor various intravenous drips including cardiac, insulin, and heparin infusions
• Perform IV starts, peripheral lab draws, and arterial blood draws

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Must comply with the 80-mile radius rule for travel assignments
• Must pass required Relias competency exams prior to assignment start (two attempts allowed; failure on second attempt results in pre-start cancellation)
• All requested time off must be submitted prior to assignment confirmation; no blocked scheduling permitted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, IMC, stepdown, or neurological/neurosurgical nursing setting
• Familiarity with NIHSS scoring, lumbar drain management, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Experience managing patients on multiple simultaneous IV drip infusions in a high-acuity environment
