Medical Billing Clerk Ambulance Billing

Sirius Staffing is seeking an Medical Billing Clerk Ambulance Billing to join a team in Chattanooga, TN. This is a long-term contract position working full-time onsite. This is an ambulance billing position. The Account Clerk will primarily support ambulance billing functions through data entry, billing, insurance verification, medical documentation review, and account processing. Candidates should have experience working with billing records, insurance information, medical terminology, and detailed data entry.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely data entry for ambulance billing and patient accounts.
• Review billing information and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and insurance information needed for billing.
• Review patient medical treatment reports and related documentation to support accurate billing.
• Work with ICD-10 codes and medical terminology when reviewing and processing billing information.
• Process standard billing forms, documents, payments, and receipts.
• Enter and maintain information within department billing and financial systems.
• Review accounts and documentation to identify missing, incomplete, or inaccurate information.
• Maintain accurate patient, billing, insurance, and payment records.
• Respond to inquiries related to billing and account information.
• Open, review, and distribute incoming mail and correspondence.
• Prepare reports, maintain files, and perform other administrative duties related to ambulance billing.
• Follow established policies, procedures, regulations, and confidentiality requirements.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with data entry, billing, and insurance verification.
• At least one year of experience with medical billing and collection practices.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 coding and patient medical treatment reports.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong data-entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to review detailed documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Ability to understand and follow established billing procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with limited direct supervision.
• Ability to prioritize assignments and work effectively under deadlines.
• Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with department staff.

Preferred Experience

• Previous ambulance, EMS, healthcare, or medical billing experience.
• Experience verifying health insurance information and coverage.
• Experience processing patient accounts, billing records, claims, or medical documentation.
• Familiarity with healthcare billing systems and insurance-related documentation.
