Structural Dynamics Analyst

Overview Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an experienced Structural Dynamics Analyst to join our team in King of Prussia, PA. Responsibilities Perform nonlinear structural analyses (stress/dynamics) for reentry vehicles. Produce and maintain models generated from both in‑house and commercially available software codes, simulating hostile encounter events, penetration mechanics, and impact physics. Prepare test plans, post‑process test data, and compile test reports. Serve as a critical member of the product development team where effective communication is essential. Work on a multi‑disciplined team performing structural design trades, preliminary and detailed design/analysis activity, and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems. Provide user documentation, recommendations to data packages, and present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design reviews. Review and interpret program requirements, flow down and implement them, plan tasks, and review budget and schedule to reduce cost and cycle time. Basic Qualifications Experience with Structural Finite Element Modeling/Analysis (FEM/FEA). Experience with implicit/explicit finite element modeling such as Abaqus, LS‑Dyna, NASTRAN 601/701, or equivalent. Experience performing analysis efforts in support of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design activity. Understanding of structural analysis through education or equivalent experience. Ability to apply new and advanced analytical techniques necessary to perform analysis. Active secret clearance; must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance; must be a U.S. Citizen. Desired Skills A related Master’s degree is strongly preferred. Experience with multi‑physics or shock dynamics modeling (e.g., Abaqus Explicit, LS‑Dyna, CTH). Experience designing verification and validation tests and correlating models post‑test. Experience with x‑ray deposition, material vulnerability, and other hostile encounter environments. Experience working to requirements, interfacing with customers, and presenting technical analysis. Experience with structural analysis for re‑entry vehicles. Ability to work in a collaborative and highly integrated team environment. Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive closure quickly and efficiently. Active Top Secret Clearance.
