Registered Nurse (T&RC) - Emergency Department Full-Time Night Shift

Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, Registered Nurses are critical members of the team diagnosing and treating patients in emergency situations, recognizing life‑threatening injuries, and delivering immediate care. Duties Assess patient condition and nursing needs; coordinate care activities with other health disciplines. Develop written individualized care plans including teaching needs and discharge planning. Administer direct care, medications, and participate in infection control. Assume responsibility and accountability for assigned patients, communicating changes to Charge RN/Clinician. Set priorities to meet patient needs, establish goals with patients/family. Document patient/family teaching and responses; ensure consistency with physician instructions. Collaborate effectively with staff and other departments. Participate in unit/hospital quality assurance activities and committees. Working Conditions Exposure to infectious diseases, blood, body fluids, and other emergency situations. Irregular hours, high pressure due to multiple calls, and OSHA Category 1 classification. Qualifications Licensed registered nurse in New York State; preferred Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Minimum one year of acute‑care hospital experience; Emergency Department experience preferred.
