Associate Claims Counsel

Job Description Old Republic Title is seeking an Associate Claims Counsel to evaluate, manage, and resolve title insurance claims nationwide. This role is suited for entry‑level attorneys, including freshly graduated law students who have passed the bar, and offers a practical, collaborative environment for building a legal career. Daily Responsibilities Process and manage title claims from states on a national level. Investigate and determine coverage; correspond with insured parties regarding coverage and status, ensure statutory compliance, resolve title defects, and direct defenses with outside counsel. Negotiate settlements to mitigate losses for the company, determine agent liability, and pursue or preserve recovery. Review and track expenditures related to claims. Negotiate claim settlements and obtain required approvals. Own a customer’s issue from initial contact to resolution or transition the issue to the appropriate person. Ensure company policies and financial controls are understood and uniformly followed and that work activities comply with federal, state, and local laws. Travel as required for company events or claim work. Education Juris Doctor. Licensed to practice law. If not licensed by the state bar at the employee’s office location, the attorney must be permitted to act as corporate counsel in that state. Skills and Experience Knowledge of title insurance and real‑estate closing transactions is preferred. Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills with an interest in real‑estate/title law. Aptitude for processing and organizing large volumes of documentation and written communications. Clear, grammatically correct, business‑appropriate written and verbal communication. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and handle multiple tasks and projects. Problem‑solving ability to effectuate solutions for covered claims.
