Job Description
Indefinite U.S. work authorized individuals only. Future sponsorship for work authorization (including those under CPT/OPT) is not available.
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for owning the performance of assigned manufacturing lines by driving improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity. This position works cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Controls, and Technical Functions to troubleshoot manufacturing issues, implement sustainable improvements, and ensure reliable production performance.
The successful candidate is a self-driven engineer who demonstrates strong ownership, prioritizes work based on business impact, communicates proactively, and uses data to make decisions and solve problems.
Success in this role requires a high level of initiative, ownership, and the ability to independently prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job duties:
Own the daily performance of assigned manufacturing lines, including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, First Pass Yield (FPY), OEE, downtime, and scrap.
Identify, analyze, and implement improvements that enhance safety, quality, productivity, cost, and equipment reliability.
Lead structured problem-solving activities using data-driven methodologies (PDCA, 5 Why, Fishbone, RedX, Six Sigma, etc.) to identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions.
Analyze production data to identify trends, prioritize work, and drive continuous improvement initiatives based on business impact.
Demonstrate ownership by driving issues from identification through implementation and verification of effectiveness.
Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives within assigned production areas.
Develop and maintain APQP documentation including PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and related quality documentation.
Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), Setup Instructions, and process specifications.
Lead and/or support the specification, design, validation, implementation, and launch of new manufacturing processes and equipment.
Lead and/or participate in Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and process improvement activities.
Support troubleshooting of automated manufacturing equipment by partnering with Production, Maintenance, Controls, Quality, and Technical Functions.
Develop engineering standards, best practices, and procedures that improve process capability, consistency, and equipment reliability.
Support internal and external audits while ensuring compliance with IATF 16949, customer requirements, and Bosch standards.
Conduct regular Layered Process Audits (LPA), Workstation Audits, 5S Audits, Operator Audits, and Process Audits.
Communicate project status, technical issues, action plans, risks, and support needs to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor to support operators, verify process performance, and ensure improvements are effective.
Core Expectations
A successful Manufacturing Engineer will:
Take ownership of assigned production lines and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
Prioritize work based on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and overall business impact.
Use production data to make decisions and validate solutions rather than relying on assumptions.
Follow through on commitments and drive action items to completion.
Escalate roadblocks early and communicate progress, risks, and support needs proactively.
Build strong working relationships with Production, Maintenance, Controls, Quality, and other support groups.
Demonstrate initiative by identifying and solving problems with minimal direction.
Balance multiple priorities while consistently meeting commitments and deadlines.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
Minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment or equivalent relevant industry experience.
Experience with automated manufacturing equipment, machining, assembly, or heat treating processes preferred.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve complex manufacturing problems using data.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, RedX, PDCA, or other structured problem-solving methodologies.
Working knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and IATF 16949 requirements.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, manage multiple initiatives, and drive projects to completion.
Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
