Position Summary

Lambert Construction is looking for an experienced Controller to lead the company's accounting and financial operations. This position reports to the President and is a key member of the leadership team, providing the financial information and insight needed to keep our projects and our company strong. The Controller is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash management, job cost accounting and compliance, and works closely with project managers, estimators and senior leadership. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, a strong communicator and a leader who holds themselves and their team accountable.

Key Responsibilities

•       Oversee all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll and month-end and year-end financials.

•       Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports for senior management.

•       Assist with developing and managing company budgets and forecasts, and analyze results against plan.

•       Manage job cost accounting, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.

•       Partner with project managers to monitor project budgets, cost reports, change orders and profitability.

•       Set up new jobs in Procore and Intacct, including budgets, cost codes and contract values, and keep job financial information current throughout each project.

•       Prepare and submit monthly pay applications in Procore, oversee billing, retainage and collections.

•       Manage cash flow, banking relationships and lines of credit.

•       Prepare financial information for bonding companies and sureties, and support bid and contract requirements.

•       Develop, maintain and enforce financial policies, procedures and internal controls.

•       Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory and reporting requirements, and coordinate annual audits and reviews with outside CPAs.

•       Manage insurance renewals, certificates and subcontractor compliance documentation.

•       Provide financial analysis, insights and recommendations to the President and leadership team for decision-making.

•       Supervise, train and develop the accounting team and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.

Qualifications

•       Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required; CPA a plus

•       5+ years of accounting/controller experience in the construction industry, including experience in a controller or senior accounting leadership role

•       Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition

•       Knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and payroll and sales tax requirements

•       Experience working with bonding companies, lenders and outside auditors

•       Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office; experience with Sage and Procore, including pay applications and job setup, preferred

•       Proven ability to lead, train and develop an accounting team

•       Highly organized, with strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines

•       Detail-oriented and analytical, with sound judgment and a high level of integrity and confidentiality

•       Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Working Environment

•       Based out of our Stillwater headquarters in an office setting

•       Full-time, Monday through Thursday, Four Ten hour shifts

•       Additional hours may be required during month-end, year-end and audit periods

•       Occasional visits to active jobsites may be required; a valid driver's license is required

•       Must reliably commute to Stillwater, OK or plan to relocate before starting
