Master Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic – Fleet Maintenance Technician

Romulus, MI
Union Position | Day Shift | Overtime Available

Are you a Master Heavy Duty Mechanic looking for a steady shop, strong benefits, and the ability to earn extra money with overtime?

We are hiring an experienced Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic / Fleet Mechanic to work on a wide variety of vehicles and equipment. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining different types of heavy equipment instead of doing the same job every day.

You’ll be working on a mixed fleet including diesel trucks, heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, emergency vehicles, salt trucks, street sweepers, and other specialty equipment.

This is a union position offering excellent benefits, retirement/pension, job stability, and plenty of overtime for mechanics who want to maximize their earnings.

Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Overtime available whenever you want it
• No mandatory OT, but plenty of opportunities to increase your paycheck

Pay

• $25.05 – $31.32/hour to start
• Pay is based on experience and union wage scale
• Regular increases through the union agreement

What You’ll Be Doing

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment
• Perform engine, transmission, drivetrain, hydraulic, brake, and electrical repairs
• Maintain and repair fleet vehicles and specialty equipment
• Work on diesel engines ranging from trucks to larger equipment
• Repair and maintain emergency vehicles, snow equipment, and fleet vehicles
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
• Complete repairs using diagnostic equipment and shop tools
• Assist with field repairs when needed
• Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed

Requirements

• Michigan Master Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification required
• Heavy-duty diesel truck repair experience
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and fleet maintenance
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid driver’s license required
• CDL A preferred (or ability to obtain after hire)
