This temporary position is located in Goldsboro - Wayne County. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $33.00 -$40.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services. This position is located at 400 Old Smithfield Rd, Goldsboro, NC 27530. Role Overview Come join our team as a Registered Nurse and demonstrate your passion to provide compassionate care! Registered Nurse position will perform specialized nursing and medical treatment and deliver care to developmentally and intellectually disabled individuals, many who are also medically fragile. This position carries out nursing care plans based on the diagnoses and pertinent medical information and individual needs. The Registered nurse will independently carry out the nursing care process and will set up an environment to assist individuals in obtaining maximum level of functioning and/or recovery. They will administer medication, participate in interdisciplinary team process, assist in coordinating care for the individuals and work closely with the medical doctors, psychologist, social worker, recreational therapist, dietician and other professionals to assist the individual in meeting their maximum potential for independence and function while providing the best quality of life possible. Schedule The Registered Nurse works a schedule that includes weekends, holidays, mandatory reporting during inclement weather, due to the facility providing services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We provide schedule options to include: 8-hour Day, Evening, and Night; 12-Hour Day and Night schedules all part‑time up to 29 hours per week. Per G.S. 126-5(c1) (37), position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7. Shift Premiums for 8‑Hour Shifts Day Saturday and Sunday 10% Evening Monday‑Friday 20% Saturday and Sunday 30% Night Friday‑Sunday 30% Monday‑Thursday 20% Shift Premiums for 12‑Hour Shifts 7:00am‑7:30pm (no premiums) 7:00pm‑7:30am Monday‑Friday 20% Saturday and Sunday 30% Physical Requirements Ability to pass and maintain CPR certification, CPI and able to lift minimum of 50 pounds. Effective Date Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. Management Preference Knowledge of professional principles, practices and theory of nursing and its application along with laws, rules and regulations governing the provision of nursing care. Knowledge of medications and the physiological effect of those medications. Ability to guide and counsel subordinate staff and provide feedback and advice/counsel to nursing staff on care rendered to patients. Ability to demonstrate patience in dealing with patients, clients, and families as well as excellent communication skills to provide education on disease processes, treatment and self‑care verbally, in writing, or by demonstration. Ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations. Minimum Education and Experience Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
