The opportunity EY’s Forensics Insurance and Federal Claims Services practice specializes in helping clients achieve their financial recovery goals following disaster events such as hurricanes, fires, tornadoes, and pandemics. As a leading professional services firm, we offer grants management, compliance, and insurance claims services to some of the most complex and prestigious public and private sector entities. This team consists of a diverse group of professionals—including accountants with disaster management experience, forensic accountants, engineers, former FEMA professionals, and other claims experts—working collaboratively to provide our clients with unmatched expertise. Your Key Responsibilities Lead engagement teams to provide government and public sector clients with a variety of services associated with the management and compliance of disaster recovery funding made available through complex grant and stimulus programs (FEMA, HUD CDBG‑DR, ARPA). This may include managing large projects for states and local governments, developing client relationships, establishing and implementing engagement processes, working with stakeholders to resolve complex compliance issues, and overseeing teams who monitor federally funded projects. Additionally, lead business and practice development initiatives. Travel and presence at client sites, along with in‑office presence, will be required. Skills And Attributes For Success Take responsibility for high‑quality execution and delivery of specific parts of the engagement Develop yourself and others through seeking and offering on‑the‑job coaching Oversee multiple projects ensuring the work meets the client’s needs Use technology to continually learn and share your knowledge with other team members Nurture relationships with professionals in other service lines and seek opportunities to work together Maintain a strong focus on the client and be responsive to their requests To qualify for the role you must have A bachelor’s degree in accounting, law, finance, business or related field 9+ years’ related compliance, audit, financial management, disaster recovery and/or emergency management experience, ideally with a government agency or professional services firm Possess a professional designation, such as CPA, CFE, or CEM Excellent project and time‑management skills and the ability to prioritize when working on multiple engagements Strong negotiation and influencing skills, and the confidence to communicate complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences A quantifiable history of business development success The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride‑share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations Ideally, you’ll also have Relevant FEMA, disaster management or insurance related experience, preferably within a professional services firm What We Look For We are looking for passionate leaders who are eager to assist governments and other organizations during their most critical times. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $134,000 to $305,900. The base salary range for the New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $160,800 to $347,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
