Retail Store Manager

Job Details Job Type: Full-time Hours: Full-time, 10am-7pm, 5 days a week. Must be able to work some weekends. Location: 6131 Columbia Crossing Drive, Columbia, MD. Position Overview Under the direction of the District Sales Manager, the Store Manager works one-on-one with customers using a consultative sales process to find equipment solutions that best meet their fitness needs while working to achieve sales goals. The Store Manager also works closely with the District Sales Manager to ensure adequate staffing coverage during hours of operation and that the store is properly maintained. Responsibilities Customer Experience Work closely with customers in a consultative sales process to ensure their needs are met and relationships are positive, productive, and profitable. Must be willing and able to demonstrate products for customers. Ensure quality servicing of customers by personal involvement and intelligent solutions. Maintain strong customer relationships and make recommendations for attracting new customers. Identify quality, timeliness, or perceived value problems reported by customers, as well as requests for new products and services. Readily respond to customer complaints and comments in a manner that resolves the issue while maintaining company guidelines. Assist customers with in-store pick up to safely disassemble and transport merchandise to customer vehicles. Store Responsibilities Ensure that in-store merchandising is effective, appealing, and consistent with company standards. Keep store inventory and products properly labeled, tagged, and priced. Properly record, track, and secure inventory during assigned shifts, including participation in monthly store inventory cycle counts. Perform all closing responsibilities and duties per policies and procedures. Ensure cash, check, credit card, and financing transactions are properly recorded, reconciled, and deposited in compliance with procedures. Maintain proper image through maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds, including cleaning of the store, removing garbage, vacuuming floors, and ensuring signage is presentable and operational. Professional Development Develop a solid understanding of the merchandise offered by the store and their benefits through studying manuals, literature, videos, and other information sources. Keep the District Sales Manager and Store Manager informed of all pertinent factors affecting the assigned responsibilities. Monitor sales results for potential improvements and variances from plan and take appropriate actions. Monitor competitive activity in the market and identify new competition and/or changes in competitors’ activities. Stay current on industry trends. Ensure that the purchase of any used equipment is prudent and in the company’s best interest. Management Responsibilities Ensure adequate staffing coverage of the store during all hours of operation. Make recommendations for the most effective store layout. Coordinate store sales promotion activities and campaigns with the District Sales Manager and Marketing. Identify quality, timeliness, or perceived value problems reported by customers and requests for new products and services. Delegate responsibilities to store employees to ensure they understand their tasks and roles. Communicate any personnel issues to the District Sales Manager. Perform other duties as assigned by Management. Requirements Education Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred; however, extensive experience in retail or business-to-business/business-to-consumer sales may substitute. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience Previous sales experience required. 1 year of experience as a Fitness Consultant at Johnson Fitness & Wellness desired. Other Requirements Strong customer service background. Goal-driven. High energy, passion, and a great work ethic. Highly motivated self-starter. Proven ability to work successfully without supervision. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Physically able to demonstrate fitness equipment for customers.
