Job Description

Join a fast-paced warehouse team in a brand-new, large-scale distribution facility, supporting a major automotive project. As a Warehouse Worker, you handle inbound and outbound freight, perform picking and packing, and ensure accurate inventory tracking using RF scanners and computer systems. You work at a mobile individual workstation to pack orders, build and organize pallets, and maintain a clean, safe environment while supporting day-to-day warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

• Unload inbound shipments safely and move products to the correct destination within the warehouse.
• Efficiently stage, stack, and load merchandise in designated areas to support smooth shipping and receiving operations.
• Move product from staging and unloading areas into the correct load door and assigned trailer in an organized manner.
• Ensure trailers are properly secured and chocked before entering, following all safety policies and procedures.
• Load and unload product using appropriate handling techniques to prevent damage and ensure safety.
• Segregate, check, and stage inbound product correctly to maintain accurate order flow and inventory control.
• Verify that the driver, trailer, and shipping documents match the specific carrier and location requirements.
• Count freight with drivers and ensure all documentation and requirements are followed and completed accurately.
• Load trailers for safe transit and confirm that drivers sign all required paperwork before departure.
• Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking of products as needed to fulfill customer orders.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including sweeping and general housekeeping duties.
• Keep an organized and orderly desk and mobile workstation area to support efficient packing and documentation.
• Pack orders at an individual mobile workstation, validate inventory counts, print labels, and communicate with drivers as needed.
• Build pallets, shrink wrap pallets, and use a pallet jack to move and organize orders once they are packed.
• Use RF scanners and computer systems to scan product in and out and accurately track inventory in the warehouse system.
• Perform other assigned duties, including cleaning, organizing, and supporting general warehouse operations as needed.

Essential Skills

• Previous picking and packing experience, including selecting orders based on pick slips or customer order forms.
• Ability to use a computer and RF scanners to scan product in and out and track inventory in a warehouse management system.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and safely throughout the shift.
• Comfort with standing, walking, and lifting for the entire duration of the workday.
• Experience with basic material handling tasks such as loading, unloading, and moving product.
• Ability to operate pallet jacks for organizing and relocating pallets and packed orders.
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate order picking, labeling, and inventory validation.
• Reliable work habits and flexibility to work overtime, including 10-hour days and up to 6 days per week as needed.
• Steel-toed boots or shoes, in accordance with safety requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with general warehouse labor, including shipping and receiving activities.
• Order picking and warehouse inventory processes.
• Familiarity with forklift operation and basic warehouse equipment (where applicable and as permitted by training and certification).
• Comfort working with RF scanners for real-time inventory management.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures in a client-focused logistics environment.
• Strong communication skills to interact with drivers and team members regarding orders and documentation.

Work Environment

This role is based in a new 628,000 square foot, climate-controlled, well-lit, and extremely clean warehouse facility that supports global supply chain operations across sectors such as automotive, aerospace, pharmaceutical, healthcare, consumer retail, and food and beverage. The site has approximately 250 employees across warehouse and office functions, and the culture is highly client-focused, with a strong emphasis on going above and beyond for customers. You will work primarily on 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime currently structured as 10-hour days and up to 6 days per week, subject to change based on business needs. All new hires attend orientation and training from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the first day. The environment involves regular standing, walking, lifting, and operating material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, while using RF scanners and computers for inventory tracking. Steel-toed boots or shoes are required as part of the safety-focused dress code.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belleville, MI.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
