Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years of experience: 1 year License: Must possess a valid nursing license Certifications: ACLS BLS Must-Have: Previous experience in a cardiovascular intensive care unit or cardiac surgery intensive care unit at a level 1 facility. EPIC charting experience is required. Invasive hemodynamic monitoring skills. Description: This position involves working in a cardiac surgery intensive care unit. The unit specializes in post-operative care for patients with various cardiac conditions. Nursing assignments may entail caring for patients undergoing CABGs, valve repair/replacements, aortic surgeries, VADs, and total artificial hearts. Additional responsibilities include monitoring and titrating vasoactive IV medications. Experience with continuous renal replacement therapy, ECMO, and intra-aortic balloon pumps is necessary. Candidates should have a strong background in handling circulatory assist devices and invasive monitoring. Interdisciplinary support includes teams for IV therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The unit accommodates adult and geriatric patients with complex cardiac diagnoses. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. Candidates may float within the scope of practice as needed. A BSN is preferred but not mandatory.
