Payroll Coordinator/HR Assistant

Cal-Waste Recovery is seeking a full-time individual to join our Human Resources Team. Payroll, employee relations and reporting experience required. Overview The Payroll Coordinator/Human Resource Assistant processes and submits payroll as well as provides administrative support to Human Resources on all personnel matters. Must be a team player able to demonstrate the skills and provide the job characteristics as follows. Payroll Duties Review time sheet information to ensure employee’s time is properly recorded. Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies. Process promotions and terminations. Notify supervisors and/or employees of timecard issues. Process monthly commissions and bonuses. Process and submit bi‑weekly payroll. Prepare payroll check distributions. Maintain and update payroll records. Maintain the confidentiality of all payroll records. Preparing periodic payroll reports. Prepare offer letters and packets. Conduct new hire orientation process. Assist with Leave of Absence correspondence. Maintenance of personnel records, including creation, filing, and purging of documents. Assist with event planning. Be innovative to increase efficiency and productivity. Perform clerical functions, such as photocopies, fax, scanning and electronic filing. Assist or prepare correspondence. Cal-Waste requires each job holder to react to reasonable change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. Skills and Qualifications 3+ years of directly related payroll experience and 2+ years of administrative experience. Experience with Paylocity payroll system a plus. Knowledge of hour and wage laws. Must have mathematical abilities. Intermediate to expert skill in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and Office 365. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a confidential, fast-paced environment. Ability to meet deadlines. Superior attention to detail. Self‑motivated, work independently, and maintain good working relationships with coworkers and management. Adapts to changes in work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
