This is a non-degreed position that will require the employee to provide oversight of participants at the shelter. Assist with facilitating support groups within the Shelter and the community. Complete intake paperwork and service documentation for survivors of domestic violence who enter the Shelter. Comply with all nutritional Grant program Requirements that include ensuring food is available per menu, food is set out at appropriate times; accurate documentation is completed immediately. Provide transportation for shelter participants, as needed. Responsibilities Adhere to all PRC policies and Code of Conduct standards and at all times exhibit PRC's Core Values. Work independently, while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations, as required. Prioritize and successfully complete daily activities. Read the Communication Log and Residents Board at the beginning of each shift. Communicate with off‑going shift regarding participants and the facility at the beginning of each shift. Provide information, referral, and counseling to survivors of domestic violence and the public, regardless of gender or disabilities. Assist shelter participants with the completion of service and safety plans, especially related to gender or disabilities. Know and understand relevant Domestic and Sexual Violence Laws and Statutes and FCADV Standards as relevant to job position. Shift assignments will be flexible with occasional evening and weekend work required and occasional need to fill in on other shifts due to vacancies, illnesses, and vacations. Provide for the special needs of the participants at the Shelter. Learn, understand, and carry out all Domestic Violence Program Procedures. Respect participants' rights. Conduct initial and ongoing safety planning with participants. Inform participants of Crime Victim's Compensation Assistance and complete paperwork as applicable. Document activities in participant's file according to procedural standards. Complete required PRC paperwork as it pertains to assigned shift and/or job duties in a timely manner. Transport incoming survivors from designated safe place (i.e., police station) to Shelter. Provide shift coverage at the Lakeland Domestic Violence Shelter, as needed, and the Sebring Shelter for emergency coverage. Document daily activities for your supervisor and turn in monthly reports. Provide phone crisis counseling as trained, pertaining to sexual and domestic violence callers. Provide support to other staff and participants with the dynamics of gender specific or disabled participants. Provide presentations and training within the community. Attend all scheduled work hours, meetings, training, and other center functions, including on‑call as required. Facilitate support groups within the Shelter and the community as needed and complete the required documentation. Intervene with and redirect participants to ensure a violence‑free environment. This position may be assigned additional “position duties” by a supervisor, other than those listed as consistent with business necessity. Ongoing assigned duties will be added in the form of an addendum to this job description. Qualifications Must meet the DCF state‑mandated background and screening requirements. Education High School diploma or equivalent. Experience Preferred: a minimum of one year working with individuals or families in crisis but not a requirement. Domestic Violence related preferred. Training 30 hours FCADV Core Competency training (provided) 30 hours FCASV ACT training (provided) Other annual training courses as required by PRC, FCADV & FCASV. Knowledge and Skills Ability to self‑motivate and self‑start. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software package. Demonstrated teambuilding skills. Demonstrated planning skills. History of regular work attendance. Demonstrate the ability to lift 25 lbs. Working knowledge of community resources, especially in areas of housing, training, and employment. Safety Equipment Universal Precautions Comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. Transportation Must have reliable transportation. Will drive a PRC vehicle. Must be 25+ years of age with an FL driver's license and clean driving record. Machines, Tool and Equipment Used As an employee of Peace River Center, if you are not assigned a company‑issued phone, you will be required to authorize the use of the Microsoft Authenticator app on your personal mobile device. This is necessary to access our payroll and communication system, Paycor, and Microsoft email as examples. This will ensure secure and efficient communication with the organization. Supervisory Relationship(s) Reports to Shelter Supervisor. Meets with supervisor bi‑weekly for individual supervision to discuss/manage program needs and evaluate any training needs or issues of professional staff or participants. The work environment is fast‑paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects.
