The Maintenance Technician supports safe and efficient operations at a San Antonio facility by maintaining equipment, building systems, and grounds. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently on a wide range of machinery. The technician performs preventive maintenance, diagnoses and repairs pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues, and accurately maintains maintenance and inventory records for all repairs and materials.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on facility equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

• Remove and install fixtures and equipment as needed to support production and maintain optimal performance.

• Troubleshoot machinery issues to minimize downtime and support production staff.

• Partner with an Electrician to troubleshoot, diagnose, and help resolve electrical problems.

• Diagnose and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems on various types of equipment and machinery.

• Maintain accurate maintenance and inventory records of all repairs, parts, and materials used.

• Work collaboratively as part of a team with the maintenance and production departments to meet operational goals.

• Maintain cleanliness, functionality, and efficiency of maintenance equipment, tools, fixtures, and work areas.

• Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safe work practices during maintenance activities.

• Adhere to OSHA regulations and company production and safety procedures at all times.

• Read, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions and schematics in English.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work independently on a variety of equipment and machinery.

• Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

• Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment.

• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues on machinery.

• Ability to partner effectively with an Electrician to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems.

• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions and schematics in English.

• Strong safety knowledge and ethics, with consistent adherence to safety protocols.

• Ability to demonstrate proper lockout/tagout procedures.

• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and the ability to follow company production and safety procedures.

• Basic electrical knowledge, including working with schematics and performing electrical troubleshooting.

• Ability to perform PLC troubleshooting to support equipment diagnostics.

• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds as part of regular job duties.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-climate-controlled facility, where temperatures may vary with seasonal conditions. The environment is production-focused, with regular interaction between maintenance and production teams and the use of standard maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery. Attendance and punctuality are managed through a point-based system: a half point is assessed for tardiness, absence with prior notification, or partial/incomplete shifts; one point is assessed for absence with same-day notification; and two points plus a final warning are assessed for absence without notification. Within the first 90 days, three points result in a verbal warning, six points result in a written warning, eight points may lead to a three-day suspension without pay, and ten points may result in termination without further notice. Points roll off 12 months after they are accumulated, encouraging consistent reliability and accountability. The work setting emphasizes adherence to safety procedures, including OSHA regulations and lockout/tagout practices, and requires appropriate attire suitable for an industrial maintenance environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
