Job Roles and Responsibilities

Sustaining and Legacy Engineering: Provide engineering support for existing products throughout their lifecycle. Investigate product, manufacturing, supplier, quality, and field-performance issues. Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions. Evaluate component obsolescence, material substitutions, and alternate suppliers while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Contract and Build-to-Print Engineering: Act as the primary engineering contact for assigned contract manufacturing programs. Review drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical data packages for completeness. Coordinate technical requests for information, deviations, waivers, and drawing clarifications. Support prototype builds, first-article inspections, and production readiness.

Applications and Design Engineering: Support new business opportunities by evaluating customer requirements and developing product solutions. Prepare technical concepts, product configurations, and cost-estimating inputs. Adapt existing platforms, perform tolerance analyses and material selections, and provide technical support during proposals.

Engineering Documentation: Create, review, and refine drawings, specifications, BOMs, work instructions, and technical data packages. Improve drawing quality, standardization, tolerancing, revision control, and design intent to establish reusable standards.

Configuration Management: Create and process engineering change requests (ECRs), engineering change orders (ECOs), and deviations. Maintain alignment across drawings, BOMs, specifications, and ERP records to ensure full traceability of product revisions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with operations, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and sales teams. Provide hands-on support during prototype and production builds, mentor junior engineers, and participate in design reviews and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline (Master's degree preferred).

5 to 15+ years of progressive engineering experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, electronics, or related industries.

Strong proficiency in mechanical design, 3D CAD, product data management (PDM/PLM), ERP systems, engineering drawings, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.

Hands-on experience with configuration management, formal engineering-release processes, root-cause analysis, and Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA).

Familiarity with electromechanical systems, electrical enclosures, cable assemblies, sheet metal, machined components, electrical schematics, and relevant regulatory standards (UL, NEC, ITAR/EAR, military, or government requirements).
