FLSA Status: Exempt Site/Location: School Administration Building Reports to: Director of Instruction Date: 05/05/2026 POSITION SUMMARY
The Supervisor of CTE, Arts, & Electives is responsible to work collaboratively with the Director of Instruction and Chief Operations Officer for the administration, organization and supervision of Division-wide CTE programming, Work-Based Learning opportunities, Arts, & Electives. This includes developing curriculum and new programs, providing staff development, submitting state and federal reports, supporting teachers, and preparing and monitoring a budget. The Supervisor of CTE, Arts, & Electives will create and lead a robust vision for increasing access to all students in the areas of CTE, Arts, and Electives through various opportunities. The Supervisor of CTE, Arts, & Electives is responsible for providing visionary leadership and coordination for a diverse portfolio of content areas, including Career and Technical Education, Visual and Performing Arts, Work-Based Learning experiences, and other elective programming across K-12 schools. This role provides direct support to building administrators to support and enhance skill development in K-12 CTE, Arts, and Electives content areas. This individual ensures that all instructional programs in these areas are aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs), foster student engagement, promote wellness and creativity, and provide equitable access to high-quality learning experiences. The coordinator collaborates with teachers, administrators, and community partners to support innovation, enrichment, and academic achievement through robust and inclusive curriculum.The Supervisor of CTE, Arts, & Electives ensures the successful implementation of the Virginia Standards of Learning, LCS LOG's, dual enrollment experiences, and division-wide instructional practices and initiatives by monitoring instructional quality, coordinating professional learning, and supporting division-level staff, principals, and teachers in achieving growth targets in efforts to close the achievement gap for all students. The Supervisor of CTE, Arts, & Electives provides instructional leadership, curriculum guidance, and professional development to support high-quality teaching and learning in CTE, Arts, World Languages, and Electives content areas throughout K-12 grade levels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive career education program
- Develop and maintain partnerships with businesses, industry, and community organizations to support CTE programs
- Promote innovation and alignment of CTE, Arts, & Electives programs with workforce needs, ensuring clearly defined career pathways for students
- Ensure adherence to timelines and effective management of CTE,Arts, & Electives programs initiatives and projects
- Market and showcase CTE, Arts, & Electives programs programs and opportunities to students, schools, and stakeholders
- Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to increase family awareness and engagement in CTEArts, & Electives programs opportunities
- Support workforce development by building partnerships that expand career-connected learning experiences for students
- Assists in the development and implementation of school division and regional CTE initiatives by providing leadership in support of Profile of a Graduate initiatives, specifically in the areas of career pathways
- Chairs the division CTE Advisory Committee
- Prepares and monitors the division's CTE budget, including the Perkins Grant
- Collaborates with Finance Department and Grant Supervisors while drafting, proposing, maintaining, and amending local, state, and federal grants
- Works with the Career Counselor to oversee industry certifications, to include ordering, disseminating, analyzing, and reporting results
- Develop and ensure compliance of High-Quality Work-Based Learning (HQWBL) experiences (including internships, apprenticeships, and clinicals) with state VDOE certification processes and 3E Readiness Frameworks
- Works with the Career Counselor and school counselors to make sure high school students have met all requirements in the CTE field that leads to graduation and credentialing
- Indirectly supervises CTE,Arts, & Electives teachers and monitors instruction in classrooms through school visits and classroom observations on a regular basis to ensure consistency of content and effectiveness of instructional delivery
- Collaborates with teachers to coordinate events for students
- Plan and execute division-wide CTE, Arts, & Electives programs and career fairs that connect students directly with local employers and postsecondary opportunities
- Expand and deepen partnerships with local businesses to increase student access to career exploration and real-world engagement experiences
- Collaborate with school counselors and building administrators to strategically identify and place students in CTE, Arts, & Electives programs pathways aligned to interests and workforce demand
- Develop systems to better leverage community business resources to support student career awareness and engagement
- Coordinate and support school-based career events and employer interactions that enhance student exposure to local career opportunities
- Serves as a central office liaison with the business/industry community to coordinate school-based instruction and work experience programs.
- Serves on division, state, and regional committees.
- Coordinates curriculum development, implementation, and revisions to the curriculum in K-12 Career and Technical Education,Arts, & Electives programs
- Reviews, makes recommendations, and handles purchasing related to instructional materials and equipment
- Monitors changes in laws, policies, and the Standards of Learning in the assigned curriculum areas and makes changes to the curriculum and programs as needed
- Works with the Career Counselor, school counselors, and curriculum and instruction staff to explore a wide range of academic and career options
- Manages and guides the selection and inventory of textbooks, equipment, hardware, software, and other teaching materials
- Prepares and submits state and federal reports in a timely manner, including reimbursement requests, comprehensive local needs assessments, and completer surveys
- Works closely with building and division level administration to ensure that students are provided with high-quality, engaging, and empowering CTE experience that positions students appropriately for career and workforce readiness.
- Create and monitor professional learning opportunities to ensure consistent support for K-12 CTE, Arts, and Electives content areas teachers through data-informed collaboration and instructional follow-up.
- Support new teachers and long-term substitutes in understanding curriculum expectations and instructional priorities.
- Supervise programs effectively to support instructional goals, equitable access to diverse materials, and curriculum alignment.
- Lead professional learning for stakeholders focused on supporting skill development, research practices, and information aligned with state standards in these content areas.
- Facilitate and support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in using data and curriculum resources to improve instructional practices.
- Collaborate with administrators to develop and monitor school-level improvement plans tied to walkthrough data and assessment outcomes.
- Collaborate on the Teaching and Learning division website (including creating and maintaining pacing guides) with the division-level team to provide teachers and administrators with ongoing access to instructional resources, model lessons, and assessment tools.
- Collaborate with SPED, EL, and Gifted teams to ensure instructional supports are differentiated and accessible for all students.

- Must possess endorsements in a Career & Technical Education area or administration and supervision.
- Must possess a Master's Degree and be eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License.
- Must have three years of successful teaching experience in a related field. Some experience in an instructional supervisory capacity preferred. A broad knowledge of state and federal CTE guidelines, curriculum analysis and development, and use of technological applications in the classroom is preferred.
- Must possess experience and skills in budget management, records management, and data interpretation.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, administrators and business/industry leaders
- Three years of successful teaching experience in a related field
