About the Lead Pastor The Lead Pastor serves as the spiritual and organizational leader of Bethel Church. This role includes preaching, teaching, shepherding, leading staff and volunteers, developing leaders, and aligning the church body with its mission and vision. The Lead Pastor’s responsibilities include: Preaching & Teaching Serve as the primary preacher and lead Sunday services and other church-wide gatherings. Develop and oversee a preaching schedule. Ensure biblical integrity in all teaching ministries. Supervise church educational offerings, including classes and Bible studies. Lead the congregation in service, discipleship, worship, and prayer Leadership & Vision Cast vision and build unity around the church’s mission. Develop a culture of teamwork, accountability, and spiritual growth. Oversee and mentor pastors and staff. Lead in spiritual and organizational matters. Serve as head of the pastoral team; lead regular staff meetings and trainings. Oversee church personnel, policies, and strategic planning. Guide the responsible use of ministry budgets and resources. Pastoral Care Offer pastoral care through counseling, visitation, and prayer. Officiate weddings and funerals as needed. Oversee member care in collaboration with elders and deacons. Support doctrinal integrity across ministries. What you bring The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Lead Pastor: Education and Experience M.Div. or M.A. in Ministry (or equivalent experience) is highly preferred Minimum of 10 years of experience serving in a local church. Experience managing and leading staff is highly preferred Personal Characteristics and Qualifications A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Ability to effectively teach Scripture to a diverse congregation. A servant-hearted, self-aware, self-motivated leader Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrates qualities of biblical leadership (1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1). Alignment with Bethel Baptist Church’s constitution and doctrinal positions. Demonstrated commitment to long-term local church ministry. Personal Commitments Prioritize spiritual life: Christ first, then family, then ministry.
