Senior Software Engineer II, Client Foundations Requisition ID: R027522 Location: Irvine, CA (hybrid work). The role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position with some on‑site and some work from home. Role Summary At Blizzard, we craft genre‑defining games and legendary worlds. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Client Foundations to help build core client systems and tooling for a new, unannounced game. The team values creativity, collaboration, and quality. Responsibilities Design and implement core client systems that support performance, scalability, and maintainability. Develop and improve client‑side tools and workflows that accelerate iteration for designers, artists, and engineers. Collaborate closely with cross‑disciplinary teams to deliver polished gameplay systems and player‑facing experiences. Optimize performance across CPU, memory, and rendering to ensure a high‑quality multiplatform experience. Support rapid iteration by balancing prototyping speed with strong engineering fundamentals. Diagnose, debug, and resolve issues in client systems and workflows. Contribute to code reviews and technical discussions that improve code quality and team standards. Minimum Requirements 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience building and shipping client systems for games or similarly complex interactive applications. Experience contributing to at least one shipped title. Experience collaborating across disciplines including engineering, art, and design. Knowledge & Skills Strong proficiency in C# and Unity, developing scalable and maintainable client systems. Solid understanding of software architecture and object‑oriented programming principles. Experience with debugging, profiling, and optimizing performance in real‑time applications. Familiarity with multiplatform development considerations. Proven ability to work collaboratively within teams and foster productive partnerships across all departments. Demonstrated ability to inspire colleagues through an enthusiastic approach to game development and a commitment to continuous improvement of core skills. Ability to take initiative and manage responsibilities independently, demonstrating strong ownership and accountability. Experienced and knowledgeable player of a wide range of games; able to use this expertise to enhance creative decisions in game development. Extra Points Experience building tools and workflows that improve development efficiency. Familiarity with telemetry or data‑informed approaches to improving player experience. Experience across full development cycles, from prototyping through live operations. Experience working in large, shared codebases with distributed teams. Passion for game development and delivering high‑quality player experiences.
