Imagine starting your day with a scheduled PM on a CNC lathe, then jumping into a puzzling fault on a custom automation cell. By afternoon, you’re online with a PLC, watching ladder logic in real time to pinpoint an intermittent sensor issue—and you wrap up by documenting your fix and collaborating with engineering on a reliability upgrade. This role supports CNC machine tools and custom-built automated production equipment at Atlas Seals. It’s a true industrial maintenance position—not a facilities-only job—though you’ll occasionally pitch in on general building and facility needs.

What you’ll tackle

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on CNC lathes, CNC mills, Wire EDMs, and other manufacturing assets.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues across production equipment, including one-of-a-kind and custom-built machinery and automation systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatics and basic hydraulics: cylinders, solenoids, sensors, proximity switches, valves, actuators, pumps, motors, bearings, gearboxes, relays, contactors, and VFDs.
• Execute industrial electrical troubleshooting and differentiate electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and controls-related problems safely.
• Work confidently with 24 VDC control circuits and 480 VAC three‑phase equipment.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, electrical schematics, and pneumatic diagrams.
• Use diagnostic/measurement tools—multimeters and mechanical measuring instruments—to verify, isolate, and resolve faults.
• Assist with installations, modifications, upgrades, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Maintain PM schedules and thoroughly document maintenance and repair activities.
• Contribute to general building and facility maintenance as needed.
• Partner with manufacturing and engineering to identify recurring issues and drive machine reliability improvements.
• Follow machine safety protocols and Lockout/Tagout procedures at all times.

What you bring (core qualifications)

• Hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• History of performing PM on CNC machinery; CNC lathe/mill strongly preferred; Wire EDM experience is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar equipment methodically.
• Working knowledge of pneumatics, basic hydraulics, motors, bearings, sensors, switches, valves, and common industrial components.
• Industrial electrical troubleshooting skills and familiarity with common control components.
• Comfort working around industrial 24 VDC controls and 480 VAC three‑phase power.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment documentation, electrical schematics, and pneumatic diagrams.
• Systematic diagnostic mindset focused on root-cause analysis—not just parts swapping.
• Strong computer fluency beyond basic Word/Excel: navigating software, interfacing with computerized equipment, researching technical info, connecting to equipment, and learning unfamiliar programs/interfaces.
• Ownership mentality; able to work independently and see problems through to resolution.

Preferred: advanced automation and controls

If you bring strong controls troubleshooting capability, you’ll be considered for a higher compensation range. We often work with Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell controls across legacy and current platforms. You don’t need to design/program from scratch—we value the ability to connect to existing systems, understand intended sequences, and diagnose why they’re not performing.

Highly desirable experience:

• Allen‑Bradley SLC‑series PLCs and RSLogix 500.
• Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix PLCs and RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000.
• Going online with PLCs to monitor live ladder logic, I/O, interlocks, timers, alarms, and sequences to diagnose faults.
• Rockwell PanelView and HMI systems, including legacy RSView.
• DeviceNet networks and related diagnostic tools.
• Allen‑Bradley servo drives and motion systems, including legacy equipment.
• Troubleshooting 24 VDC control and 480 VAC three‑phase systems.
• PNP/NPN sensors, discrete I/O, and analog instrumentation (0–10 VDC, 4–20 mA).
• Field I/O and connected devices: sensors, solenoids, relays, contactors, motors, drives, actuators, and safety devices.
• Reading schematics and signal tracing through industrial control systems.
• Troubleshooting custom automated machinery without OEM support.
• Maintaining/troubleshooting legacy automation equipment and software.

Nice to have: Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio, VB.NET, VB6, or other PC‑based machine‑control/HMI applications.
