Director, Global Oncology Patient Advocacy

This leadership role is responsible for shaping and advancing a global patient advocacy strategy within an innovative oncology environment.
The position focuses on ensuring patient perspectives are embedded throughout the product lifecycle, from early research through commercialization.
You will build meaningful relationships with patient communities, advocacy organizations, and internal stakeholders to influence strategic decisions.
The role combines strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and external engagement to improve patient experiences and outcomes.
You will serve as a trusted advisor, helping teams incorporate patient insights into clinical development, medical strategies, and evidence generation initiatives.

Accountabilities:

The Director, Global Oncology Patient Advocacy will lead the development and execution of patient-centered strategies that strengthen engagement, improve patient experiences, and ensure patient needs are reflected across organizational initiatives. This role will serve as a global subject matter expert and strategic partner across medical, clinical, commercial, and evidence-generation functions.

• Develop and execute a global oncology patient advocacy strategy aligned with organizational goals and medical affairs priorities.
• Establish patient advocacy standards, best practices, and capabilities that promote patient-centric approaches across teams.
• Partner with Clinical Development, Clinical Sciences, Medical Affairs, HEOR, and Evidence Generation teams to integrate patient perspectives into development programs.
• Facilitate patient and advocacy group input into clinical trial planning, study concepts, protocol design, endpoint selection, informed consent materials, and recruitment strategies.
• Identify opportunities to improve patient recruitment, retention, diversity, feasibility, and overall treatment experiences.
• Support launch readiness and patient access initiatives by evaluating support models, identifying resource gaps, and improving patient journey strategies.
• Build and maintain strategic, compliant relationships with global patient advocacy organizations and patient communities.
• Represent the organization in external patient advocacy forums, partnerships, and industry initiatives.
• Monitor evolving patient needs, advocacy trends, and healthcare landscapes to provide actionable recommendations.
• Ensure patient insights are collected, analyzed, and communicated to support business and medical decision-making.
• Promote a culture of patient-centered thinking through education, communication, and internal capability-building programs.
• Measure and communicate the impact of advocacy initiatives on patient outcomes and organizational objectives.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced patient advocacy professional with a strong background in oncology, healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceutical development, or related fields. The role requires strategic thinking, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence across global and cross-functional environments.

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, healthcare, public health, social sciences, or a related discipline required.
• 10+ years of experience in patient advocacy, healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry, clinical development, medical affairs, public health, or related fields.
• Advanced degree such as MPH, APRN, PharmD, or PhD is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience creating and executing global patient advocacy, patient engagement, or patient-centered strategies.
• Established relationships with patient advocacy organizations, patient communities, and external healthcare stakeholders preferred.
• Experience incorporating patient perspectives into clinical development, study design, protocol development, evidence generation, or patient experience initiatives.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders across regions and organizational levels.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage both senior leaders and patient communities.
• Strong understanding of oncology, healthcare ecosystems, and patient engagement principles.
• Ability to analyze external insights and translate them into strategic recommendations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
