Senior Associate/Counsel - Private Clients

Herrick, Feinstein LLP is seeking a Senior Associate or Counsel to join its Private Clients practice in New York. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience advising high-net-worth individuals and families on sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer, tax and related private client matters. The candidate should be comfortable working directly with clients and handling sophisticated matters with a high degree of independence.

Responsibilities include:

• Advise high-net-worth individuals and families on sophisticated private client, estate planning and wealth transfer matters
• Draft and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care proxies and other estate planning documents
• Develop and implement sophisticated lifetime gifting and wealth transfer strategies
• Advise clients regarding federal and New York estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax matters
• Advise on the structuring and administration of family entities, including LLCs and partnerships
• Assist with estate and trust administration, probate and related matters
• Work closely with clients' financial advisors, accountants and other professional advisors to coordinate comprehensive private client strategies
• Conduct legal research, analyze complex estate planning and tax issues
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide exceptional client service.

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New York Bar
• 7+ years of relevant private client, trusts and estates experience
• Substantial experience representing high-net-worth individuals and families
• Strong knowledge of federal and New York estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax laws
• Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
• Ability to manage sophisticated matters independently and work effectively as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to client service.

The range of base salary* the Firm reasonably expects to pay for this role is $325,000-$350,000.The actual base salary for this role within the above range will depend upon number of years out of law-school, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

*This range does not include other forms of compensation or benefits that may be offered in connection with the job.
